Hi Scott,
Thanks for writing.   Best hog bait?   Well, the best boar hog bait I know of in the world is a sow thats "in heat".    Ive heard and even seen several people who made traps where the sow was in the back side of the trap and the boars came in "careless to the wind" and got caught.

Im sure there are lots of concoctions that people have better than the ones I know.   I know you can put burnt oil or diesel in holes or on post and they will come to it regularly to get rid of lice and fleas, this especially works good in dry months.    On baits it self, a mixture of 5 gallons of corn, 5 pounds of sugar and several packs of yeast from the store if mixed together and set down wind of your house for a couple of weeks gives out an aroma that hogs cant resist but makes you throw up...haha

Academy stores carry a mixing variation called "Hog Wild" that you mix with corn that does a good job.    Mixing beer with corn and let set for days works good too, just a little on the expensive side.

I like burying the soured corn in a hole in the ground about 2 feet deep.   It makes it hard for the hogs to get out and a place they get use to coming.

Hope this helps, Im not really a hog trapper, but do bait out some spots to start at for my dogs from time to time...

Jim
