Hello Rowdy,
Thanks for taking the time
to write. Hope this is not a loaded question. But I'm going to
answer it anyway. It reminded me of a bear hunting saying I heard one
time. The hunter with the best dogs, looses the most and the Best hunter
is the hunter with the highest vet bill. I dont know whether I believe
that or not, my dogs mean alot more to me than that, but your question
made me think of it.
To answer your question,
the most I've ever lost on one single boar is One. But, I also
feel I am a pretty decent field medic and that has helped. I dont want
my dogs getting hurt if I can prevent it in any manner. I feel the
use of cut collars and vest when needed have helped in this manner.
Always having staple guns, first aide kit and blood stop at arms lenght.
Also not hunting too many dogs at once and not all the dogs being rough have
helped. And last but not least, That little prayer I ALWAYS say
any time I go hunting in the woods:
"Lord, I ask that you
please watch over my dogs, they love what they do and I love them, Please
deliver them back to me safely when the hunt is over."
and remember to---
Collar up, vest up and protect
those dogs, and they will take care of you. And if you dont need the
meat, leave em on their feet.
