Dear Paul,

Thanks so much for taking the time to write.  I came
thru North Carolina over the summer while I was
working in Eastern Tennessee.  You live in a beautiful
state.

You have asked several questions at once.  I dont know
if I can be of any help, but here goes

1.   Have you heard of any one using Argentine Dogos
on  Bear?

Answer:  We dont have bears where I live, however I do
know a few bear hunters.  I personally have never
heard of anyone using dogos on bear.  I'm sitting here
scratching my head wondering why a person would want
to use a catch dog on bear.   I know some people like
rough dogs to try and help put a bear up a tree.  But
I am real dumb when it comes to bear hunting and maybe
some people use catch dogs on them.

2.   Does any one sell boar training scent?

Answer:   You are right!  A year or so ago I went by
the national office of nite light, which sells
thousands of things in regards to training dogs and
dog hunting.  I asked them this question--  "I see you
have all these training scents and breaking scents,
Why dont you have or do you have any for wild hog?"
Their answer to me was  "We dont think there is a big
enough demand for it to produce"   I assured them that
any type dog hunter that had wild hogs in their area,
I'm sure would be interested in wild hog breaking
scent.  I also told him of the thousands of hog dog
hunters in the US and around the world who might have
an interest just as you have in a wild hog training
scent.

As to whether they work or not, I think that answer is
up to who ever is using it.  I've heard pros and cons
against both.

3.   Are there any tracking collars that you feel are
more reliable, rugged, have a longer range than others?

Answer:  This too is an opinion question.  I can only
speak about the ones I own or have used.  The tracking
collars I currently use I bought from Klien
Telementary.  I have been pleased with the results I've
had with mine.  On the other hand, several of my
friends and my brother get their collars from Johnson.
and they are well pleased with them.  The longest
ranging collar I have ever seen in my life belongs to
a friend of mine in east texas.  The collar came from
Johnson.  But Johnson doesnt make that particular
collar any more.  It is a rechargeable collar that has
about a week charge on the battery.  I feel personally
feel the reason they quit making them was because of
the short time it would work and the maintenance of
keeping it charged and not letting it get a memory on
the battery.  But I tell you one thing, I dont
remember the model number, but mister, when this
collar is charged up I feel I can say with all honesty
that it will reach twice as far if not more than the
ones I currently own.  I tried very hard to get one
from johnson but that's when I was told they are no
longer produced.    It was the best collar I
personally have ever seen in my life.

I have other friends who swear by wildlife collars.
But Like I said, this is basically an opinion question
of to what pleases the owner of the system.  Kinda
like  some people like Fords and some like Chevys.

Hope I some how helped a little on your questions.

Good luck with your dogs,

Jim
