Hi Lysa,
Thanks so much for writing me. Size of dogs?
Well, I always hate to talk about pros or cons of certain breeds of
dogs. Basically because, someone out there loves to hunt with that
breed and would snap back at me....haha
Ive never owned a Jack Russell, so I cant answer that question. I
have how ever seen three or four at baying contest. I even have a movie
of one baying a bad hog over in south carolina. There's a husband and
wife over in Louisiana who are great dog trainers that are friends of
mine that have a set of Jack Russell's that they take to baying contest
sometimes that are little sticks of dynamite at baying a hog. The one I
saw over in South Carolina, was just as awesome and I even saw that one
bay just as hard and as aggressive on a bear. As far as hunting them in
the woods goes, I just don't know. The smallest dog I've ever hunted
weighed about 25 to 30 lbs.. Where I live I just cant see one for my
type of hunting with shorter legs due to all the mud, deep cow track
holes and hard hard gumbo land. I can see however how the smaller
type
dogs could get easier into thick cover. I just like a dog that is
body
streamed lined with alot of speed. Maybe the jack russell can do it,
I
just don't know since I've never seen one in the woods under actual
hunting conditions.
Good hunting,
Jim
