Dear Nate,

Thanks for taking the time to write.   Dog catching to hog
catching.    Im gonna be short and sweet on this one.  Please dont take
offense. You dont have a small problem, you have a big problem if your
gonna use him to catch hogs with that are bayed by other dogs.   But, my
suggestion is to get you another dog and dont give or sell that one to
anyone else.    Its not worth the trouble.   I wouldnt feel I could ever
trust the dog.  Theres just to many dogs out there that will catch to
have to worry about it.

Two summers ago, a fella came along on a hunt with us (uninvited I might
add) he just kinda showed up.  Not to seem like a jerk, since I knew who
he was, I let him go.  He brought two bull dogs.    In conversation
during the hunt I asked about the bull dogs.   One discription was ok,
the other was he had gotten it from a bull dog fighter but it quit
fighting.   Right there I should have known better than to ever let him
turn the dog loose, but we all go brain dead sometimes.......haha

My dog bayed a hog in a Milo field, I turned two dogs to her.  They
bayed and in the commotion, I told him to bring the larger bull dog.  He
said "but the other one is experienced"  Im runnin, adrenilin is pumpin,
Im concentraing on the dogs barkin and just shouted for him to bring a
dog.  So he brings this 40 lb dog and turns him/her loose.   The dog
passes us, and goes into the bay.   Everybody who knows, the second the
bull dog catches, there is kind of a silence for about 1/2 a second.
All of a sudden, the dogs are barkin and screaming, and there are now
TWO BAYS.   Im about 10 feet from it and tell Kevin, there are two hogs
and hollar  back to bring the other catch dog.   The milo was so high
that you had to be right up on the hog to see a thing.   I heard all
this screaming from my dog and couldnt stand it and told kevin that the
hog was killin my dog and im goin in, heck with the bull dog.   I step
into the flattened area, and low and behold the mans dang bull dog has
the best gyp I own by the throat.   If I would have had a gun or my
knife, I would have cut that dang bull dogs throat right there, but i
didnt. But now I know why deputy sherrifs carry the long 4 battery mag
lites too..    Needless to say, I was not a happy camper AT ALL.    the
only thing that saved my gyp was her cut collar, how ever his top
canines did pleanty of damage.   I took my gyp back to the truck and
begain sewing her up.  They caught the hog and came up to the truck.
Kevin knew that I was upset, we have been hunting together for years, so
he knows how I am.    The man who owned the bull  dog came up and put
the dog in the truck and came to see how the gyp was.  I basically told
him in a not so nice way that I had a pistol in the truck and he needed
to use it....   You wouldnt believe the excuses that started flowing out
of his mouth....   We loaded up, went home and I havent hunted with him
again but did talk to him awhile back.   I asked about the bull dog.
This is basically what he told me.   "Well, i had to put him down, I
finally got me a strike dog and he killed him, he also killed 2 or 3
dogs there at the house and some pups, DANG he was a good catch
dog"?!?!?!?!?!?!?!   Now, does that make any sense?   Oh well,   it takes
all kinds.

Ive had bull dogs that have caught other dogs before at nite, I even
had one that caught Kevin on the wrist onetime when he had the hog by
the back leg and the dog was slug loose,  but not a single one of these
was dog agressive so I knew it wasnt the problem.

If your asking my opinion, and I guess you are since you wrote it.
Find you another one and save yourself some headaches in the future.

Good Luck Hunting,

Jim
