Dear Randy,
Thanks for taking the time to write back.  Your dog has growled
four times in the dog box at strange dogs and what should you do?

Well, dont be to trigger happy yet.  If your dog was a bad one, there
would be alot more than growling going on in the box.  I would just
keep speaking strongly to him.  Or if yøu feel he needs a little
extra understanding, you might put a shock collar on him or just
simply get ahold of him pretty good with your leash a time or two.

The dogos I've had were no problem in the box with other dogs.  When
I have the back of my truck loaded with dogs, I assure you that they
dont stand there side by side for miles without getting attitudes
with one another.  I dont have any that fight one another, but they
do growl at one another from time to time on the ride.

My brother and nephew use to have two dogs, one named Arkey and the
other named Dodger who we had to muzzle while traveling.  You would
have thought these two dogs absolutely hated one another,,,,,that was
until you unsnapped them to go hunting.   At that time, they were
inseperateable.  Arkey was killed on a highway as he and dodger were
on the heels of a big russian type sow.   As Arkey lay dead on the
busy highway, Dodger layed for hours on top of Dodger until a friend
of our named Mike Marshall passed by and pulled Arkey off to the
side, took off his tracking collar, and put dodger in the truck to
bring to my brothers.    Thats a true story...

So, dont be so quick on the trigger if growling is all thats taking
place...  Just try and let your dog know that you dont want it.

good hunting,

Jim
